With A Better BRAIN comes a Better LIFE

Dr. Rich Friedel, DM, PhD, CBHP, is the Clinic’s Managing Member. Rich first became involved in brain health issues in 2003 when his mother was misdiagnosed. At the time, Rich and his sisters were told by their mother's primary care Dr. that she was just old and possibly suffering from old age and simple cognitive decline. However, Rich and his sisters knew there was something more at work here than simply old age decline. While visiting his mother and sisters in Tampa, he ran into an old undergraduate friend who attended Cornell Medical School; he was a practicing physician. After a conversation, this friend directed Rich to the University of South Florida Alzheimer's study department. Rich and his oldest sister were invited to a clinical workshop with a dozen medical care workers to learn about the brain disease Alzheimer's. It became very evident at that time to Rich this was a horrendous disease, and it was exactly what his mother was suffering. Rich, having learned the seven stages of Alzheimer's, immediately started studying the cause of this disease and why it was undetectable by most of the medical practitioners that he encountered serving his mother. Rich spent time studying brain health issues for over some years and had to meet several doctors at the Amen Clinics. Rich was encouraged to learn more about brain health issues at Amen University. Rich enrolled in the 50-credit hour postgraduate education program at Amen University and completed it, becoming a Certified Brain Health Professional. That education led Rich to expand Friedel Clinic into brain health over the next several years. Today, we still do not understand the cause of Alzheimer's more than we did in 1906 when Dr. Alzheimer discovered the disease. Rich has dedicated the last 20 years to learning how he can help those struggling to understand and develop Better Brain Health.
